The accounts attributed to Jesus were actually borrowed by the Romans who wrote the scriptures of the New Testament based on the life of Appolonius of Tyana.
Appolonius was a well educated philosopher, spiritual medium, and healer who as a young man travelled throughout the Levant, Persia, India, Singapore, discussing philosophy, theology, spirituality with many wise and enlightened people. After several years he returned west to the lands controlled by the Romans including the Essene communities of Judea, spreading wisdom and healing wherever he went. He also spent some years in Rome, where he was very popular and sought after as a healer/medium/philosopher. His life spanned almost a hundred years from the time when Jesus was said to have been born until the latter years of the first century AD. His teachings were a blend of Pythagorean, Bhuddist, Hinduist, Zoroastrian, Hermetic, Egyptian, and Gnostic philosophies.

The main source is Jesus himself. he said he did not go very far from the traditional boundaries of Israel, and during this "missing years" he stayed home with his parents and that was important part of Jesus development that he had a more less normal life. Jesus was too heavily steeped in second-temple Judaism, and if one knows this tradition it is extremely paranoid against outside influence. Before the Babylonian exile, the belief was a lot more open and flexible. The influences on Indian subcontinent religions by Christianity came a bit later, most likely in the 3th and 4th centuries after Jesus.
