How to Break 100 - STOP AND THINK!

This is the first of an undecided number of episodes showing an average guy how to break 100. I don't have any fancy techniques, just common sense and simple decision making.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT

I met AJ (a Youtube subscriber) for the first time a few weeks ago after he messaged me on a video I uploaded. He wanted to know how to break 100 in golf. He normally shoots 120 and his best ever score is 114 and a best 9 hole score of 54. I'm hoping to SHATTER his best score and break 100 ASAP.

I met up with him one fateful August morning at about 5am and we played Rose Garden Golf Course just on the outskirts of Bangkok.
I'd never seen him play before, never met him before that day.

What a great guy he is. He just LOVES golf and you can see it every time he hits a good shot.

We are going to playing Rose Garden over and over until we break 100. In this first episode, I guide AJ around the the first nine, helping him with some aiming, club selection and thinking. I believe all of you can break 100 in golf consistently if you just think better and hit the shots you know. The magazines and pros teaching you swing mechanic techniques without even seeing your swing are hurting your game. If you can shoot under 120, you can shoot 99. I 100% believe it. And I'm going to prove it.

Too many of you guys are influenced by your ignorant buddies or like AJ, his caddie (who doesn't play golf). Your buddies all want you to hit the shots that make you look like a fool while you know deep inside, you should be playing and thinking safer. Everyone's showing you what you think and they think you need....how to hit drivers, spine angle, flop shots, etc etc. WHatever. Have you ever made a par?

Well then you have the PHYSICAL ability to do it over and over and over. Something is going wrong in your head though.

Everyone knows you need 9 bogeys and 9 double bogeys to break 100 but no one is showing you how to do it. So I am going to show you how I will get my new buddy AJ shooting under 100. I believe I can do it with him within 3 rounds but that's a bold claim. Let's see.

I really hope you enjoy this series. I think it's a first of it's kind showing you a real golfer learning to break 100 and shoot under 100 in golf. I have yet to see anyone else do it and I hope to keep bringing you only the best and most helpful golf content on the planet.

C'mon go do it, break 100!

Youtube Golf Revolution!! Love it! I have to say, I have fully bought into the playing smarter system you preach, but from 165 I would have hit 4 iron instead of laying up, but I see your point for someone who has never broken 100, this is the fully correct play here. 7 Iron, lay up, easy approach shave at least one stroke there. Just by me being smarter with your advice, I lose WAY less balls, have more fun and have shaved 4-6 strokes off my game. Now I NEED to listen more to the JUST GET IT ON THE GREEN THEORY instead of trying to be cute and mess it up. I do that and we're talking 6-8 strokes. Thanks again for doing it Matt, your public loves Keep em coming, best golf advice on youtube. I can see 1000 videos on how to drop into the slot, but that won't help as much as these videos will! IMO.

So glad these videos came up on my youtube feed. Focusing on the higher percentage shots to lower scores, and focusing on distances that get you into your comfort zone. Sounds so simple!

This is excellent. So much value in this vlog. I remember reading Greg Norman's book many years ago and there is a chapter titled 'Know Thyself' in which he talks a lot about when to be aggressive and when to be measured in your approach. In my experience it's usually the mental mistakes followed by frustration which kick you in the nuts....

Nice teaching Matt and well done AJ, great to see his face light up when he gets it right.

This is priceless for actually seeing how a beginner's instinct to muscle and speed from the top and thus get off balance looks so much different than sticking to basic mechanics, focusing on making solid contact above everything else and just letting the club do the work.

Man watching this guy play pumped me up. You could see the confidence grow in him. He crushed his personal best 9 holes 54-49. Great job!

Before this week my best score was 97 in practice. Yesterday I shot 92. Still can't break 100 in competition though. Nice video. Keep ''em coming.

First under 100 round in my adult life today. 48/50. The playa is strong with this one. 6 irons (150-160 yards) off the tee all day baby.

This is really excellent stuff Matt. There are plenty of us like AJ out there who love the game, but are kaak at it due to lack of practice, time to play, ancient clubs etc

This was freaking awesome! Can't get enough vlogs where regular Joes get help getting around the course. Also great timing as my daughter is close to breaking 100 so this was a great watch for us. Thanks Playa!

Great stuff! I'm a 13, and I'm still gaining some course management gold from videos like this. Also, the ''process based' mindset has been a great key to some recent lower scores. Keep it up, Matt!

Dude, these kinds of videos are perfect for me! I've been hovering around 108-112 all summer & I finally just hit a 105 last weekend. Hoping to break into double digits by the end of fall TBH. I appreciate all the time & effort you put into your videos. Remember that there's people out there like me that watch them religiously at work. Lol!
