Well because this is a short and he didn't get a chance to answer

Cohh reason for a second channel is that sponsorships fees are tied by viewership numbers, cohh being a morning (american time) streamer gets 2 or 3 times the views that he does in his afternoon streams and that afternoon lower viewership was hurting his sponsor deals, the alt channel allows him so sustain his normal morning views for sponsor while being able to stream at any other time not caring what viewers he gets.

So cohh wins because he gets a better deal with sponsors and we win because now he doesn't have to worry about playing games that will only bring big numbers and can do more streams at any point, its frankly a very good solution

The viewer may be confused about channels made to ban evade. If one of your channels gets banned, you are not allowed to make or use another one. Doing so is against YouTube policy

I often see it being for different kinds of content, like someone will have gaming on their main channel and their alt might be some other hobby like painting miniatures or something so people can follow the content they're interested in without getting notification for content they're not interested in.

The problem comes if you get banned you cant have/make a new one because that's ban evasion

Game channel and a chat channel Id say are most common "I dont feel like playing games, so lets chat or watch a movie or the like"

I wonder if they were confused due to the old rule of partnered streamers not being allowed to live stream on other platforms? (With the exception of content that wasn't allowed on twitch) For the record I believe that's been removed as a restriction, but you still not permitted to simulcast to another platform while also streaming on twitch.

Its only a problem if one of your accounts is suspended or banned. At that point using an ult account is evasion.

Tons of ppl have multiple channels. Like "Clips" channels, or having one channel for the game everyone knows them for and another for variety games that THEY wanna play instead of draining their soul playing the same game every single day forever.

Would be hilarious for someone well known to just keep creating a fresh account every time they stream

Alt channels are also good for when you want to try something diffrent but dont wanna change your main channel

Yeah, the reason "a secondary channel" is frowned upon sometimes, is that while it's fine to have several twitch channels/account, using them to *ban evade* is not ok.

If one of your accounts are banned somewhere, it's ban-evasion to use your other accounts to keep chatting in the channel you got your main account banned. Which in itself is bannable, and something Twitch is trying to "battle".

I guess the confusion comes from this - on one hand, the practics of ban-evasion is bannable and something they actively discourage - but the means to ban-evade, to have another account, is *not* bannable.
It's just that the main reason the general viewer ever comes close to create a secondary account, *is to ban-evade* somewhere.

Maybe I am wrong, but the person asking the question may be confusing Twitch's rules about steaming elsewhere. At one point, there may have been a rule against it. Right now, they allow it, even for partners.

I used to use Restream to stream everywhere and never had an issue with Twitch.

he probably just wants a more relaxed experience where he can play games long form and talk the the fewer people that show up

Having multiple channels actually hurts the streamer until the viewers learn about the other channel.
