After the events of 2020, we are no strangers to stress and anxiety. But for Black and brown Americans, that stress was nothing new. Racial health gaps have always existed, and socioeconomics and racism within the medical system have long kept equal healthcare out of reach. But what kind of toll does the experience of racism itself have on your body? Glad You Asked host Christophe Haubursin wants to know.

You literally quoted an Asian American researcher for your report but didn't include any Asian Americans as a part of any of your sample data.

You guys should really put links to your research in the description. Considering how polished the rest of the channel is, I'm pretty amazed that you guys don't provide references

Just want to remark that as an Asian (Chinese ancestry) in Australia, I've not experienced any kind racism after high school. It's nice.

Wouldn't different economic groups have different stress levels? Would loved to have seen Asians in the mix to understand this better

Avoiding going to the hospital can also be a cause of having bigger issues, as when you finally get to the hospital you are normally past the stage of things getting fixed easily.

I'm a white passing hispanic and I've never once had a racist incident because of how I looked. I've never had a store owner look at me suspecting me of trying to shoplift or anything of the sorts. I can't say the same for the friends and family I have grown up with that didn't look like me

I live in India and this whole season has been a ton of correlation, what black people suffer in USA it is almost the same that lower caste and schedule classes go through in india, but alas there are very few research going around all this in India

interesting, I think diet is a big part of health. Also people subjected to stress may abuse drugs more.

Can you hold your cameras still during interview shots? Watching the interview portion is making me sea-sick.

I got to say these "glad you asked" videos are exceptionally well researched and made. You put a lot of effort and work in there and one can definitely see it. And, as a non-American I have to say a thanks for putting subtitles on these videos in several languages (like my native german)! Thank you soo much for that!!

That sums up my life. “Acting white, Acting black” needs to go in this society.

Why are you trying to be trendy? The video editor had to edit you going to work on a subway, and had to green screen video onto the train...for what?

When people in vulnerable situation are exposed to lower quality education and end up in toxic work and family environments they get more stressed out. Simple as that. Just not so simple for the teacher's union.

*You should be asking, is racism agitated by inequality?* e.g harassment from black and bullying from black to whites.

This was timely. Important to point out how racism - the "system" part of it - has a word. It's called CAPITALISM. The capitalist system is a system exploitation of the working class by the ruling class, which weighs most heavily on the most vulnerable among the working class. Capitalist exploitation, whether based on race or other factors, is not a state of mind it has material impacts and this video does a good job of highlighting that - I just wish it would use more direct language so as to help demystify capitalist exploitation. Most importantly, it is important not to demonize those who fall for false consciousness but to make clear the actual power relations between the ruling/capitalist class and the rest of us who use public transport, go to public school, use public libraries, and shop at Wal-Mart.

The mistreatment I face is becoming increasingly worse every day. Considering some want us dead, I wonder how wise it is to let them know the behavior is affecting us. It's not like they will feel bad and improve.

I think it's hard for most people to even acknowledge this to themselves. There's a reason the mind has defence mechanisms to avoid seeing the world as it really is
