Meetup organizers, we hear you and we’re here to help. We know that subscriptions and event-related costs have an impact on your ability to organize a group. That’s why we’ve rolled out platform tools to help offset your investment in community. In this installment of Meetup Live’s Monetizing Meetup series, we’re discussing member dues.

Join Meetup organizers Tonia Tyler, Scott Gore, and Brenda Bea for a discussion on how they have been using member dues to offset costs. They’ll talk about their reasons for setting member dues and share best practices for getting started. Learn about different pricing structures and how to use member dues to increase member engagement.

Hello!
Thank you for the video, it's super helpful.
Around a third of my attendees are tourists so the member dues wouldn't really work for me.
Could you suggest an effective way to charge attendees without it being so much that they don't attend?
Thanks!

My personal reservation about paying a fee for a Meetup Zoom meeting is primarily the payment method. If a meeting is in person, that is a different animal, if you will. But, when you are sending a payment to someone who you don't really know in another country, and doing it through an electronic means, it gives one pause. It's about exposure of credit information that may be hacked by some nefarious means. Probably not by the Zoom Meetup organizer, but by others who may intercept personal credit information. Crazy world and you become perhaps overly cautious about this kind of thing. So...for me, that's the reservation about paying for online Meetups and I wish there was a foolproof way to do this. Lots of negative things have been reported about PayPal, for example, so, sadly, there is reason to be concerned.

I’m not getting my Verification Code email?

Do I contact Meetup or Stripe to resolve this?

Are there any videos you’ve done on what MeetUp is doing to help me to increase attendance of local in-person MeetUps.
