You may have experienced finding a small quantity of blood on your toothbrush or your dental floss. Certain people see this as a warning to stop brushing or flossing. But, on the contrary, it is effectively an alarm signal to redouble the effort. In fact, this bleeding is the consequence of a gum infection that is called gingivitis. This infection is caused by the presence of a certain bacteria that appear after 24 hours without brushing. These microorganisms liberate toxins that are very aggressive toward the gums, and the result is the appearance of the first signs of gingivitis. Gingivitis is characterized by swelling, redness and bleeding of the gums. At this stage, it is easy to put an end to it by effective flossing and good brushing. After about 10 days, all the symptoms disappear, leaving a healthy, coral-pink gum with normal shapes. After bleeding upon brushing or flossing, if good hygiene habits were dropped, the first innocuous signs would increase until a gum disease called periodontitis developed. This disease, much more severe and harder to control than gingivitis, is characterized by the destruction of the bone structures that support the teeth. Periodontitis can attack the supporting tissues in such a severe way that it may sometimes bring about the loss of the most affected teeth. In short, if your gum bleeds it is a warning sign. It is high time to pay more attention to oral hygiene so as to avoid serious problems such as periodontitis.

Only my back molars have started bleeding PROFUSELY since I got my wisdom teeth out... i think I had gingivitis before the extraction and my hypothesis is that all the bacteria from before got underneath the molars since it was an open pocket and now I think I have periodontitis because the gums dont hurt the bones around the teeth hurt..
