The Indian authorities were placed in a very difficult position at these G20 meetings by the Western Powers, principally the US of course, & handled it as well as could be expected. India adopts the same approach as many other Global South countries & tries to maintain good relations with the West, but does not want to damage its good relations with the other great world powers of Russia & China in order to do so. They won't allow themselves to be bullied into "picking a side", they see this as juvenile & not in their own national interest, nor in the interests of world stability & peace.

"Soft target" is not a correct term here. In fact it's a really terrible, if not criminal, way of describing the incident. Soft target implies it is a legitimate target after all, just not well defended. But it is not. What happened was two military squad teams rushed into Russia and opened fire on civilians. Just a short note to say that MODI did indeed address the Foreign Ministers Meeting of the G20 at New Delhi, where he was quite firm in pointing out that Multilaterism is in crisis having failed to address the issues of common interest..Positioning India as a leader for the Global South he went to say that No Country could claim to be a Global Leader without listening to the voices of the global south, in addressing issues that affected them the most.
