I love this tire on my SUV! It is excellent on ice, handles very well on winding mountain roads, and is also great on dry roads on warmer days en route to the ski areas. This is a tire I can also use on long stretches of highway at high speed. I think that this X Ice Snow (winter) and Defender LTX M/S (summer) are the two very best tires on the market. Swap these two seasonally and you have the best combo.

I'll be using those as my next winter tire. I had the Pirelli Scorpion ice & snow for 1 and half winter and i was rather disappointed, poor traction, frequent ABS and DSC warnings in snow conditions plus the thread life was short.

Performance is good, but the X-ice snow is not as durable as the X-ice 3. The sidewalls are super soft. Tire barely kissed a curb, and it left very deep marks. Previous gen X-ice tires on my other car have less damage even though they have seen for 4 winters.

Decent tire for mild winter conditions, but just as expensive as some Nokians. Not good in deep snow or slush. A tire designed for mostly iced surfaces in city or roads, and some moderate snow accumulations. If you park in city in deep snow or have often times a lot of slush in city driving, not a good option - the blocks are too close to each other. Look for other brands with more spacing between the blocks, such as Nokian R3 or Toyo G3
