In this video, you'll see first-hand how the new GE Profile washer and dryer combo performs and if it actually works the way GE intended.

There have been washer and dryer combos in the past from other brands, but they have failed. This model is different due to its bigger heat pump and larger lint filter.

By the end of this video, you'll know if you should include this appliance in your next renovation or go the traditional route of an individual washer and dryer.

Have mine for 2 weeks now. Really like it and the dry time is a non issue. Definitely clean the lint trap every load. No issues so far.

Combo units have been popular in Japan for many years. I'm glad to see this option coming to North America.

Glad to see we're finally getting some larger versions of all in one units with heat pumps. This is a really great option for people like me who live in older houses and would like second floor laundry when there is no space made for it and you don't want to do a full renovation just to have that convenience. In that way, the higher cost is more than offset. For me personally, a closet with a shared wall to my bathroom sink and toilet would be the perfect location. Just run power and water lines through the wall and done!

Heat pump dryers are the future. Vents are already painful to deal with if electric vented, gas is even worse. For new house construction it also simplifies things and eliminates a hole in the building envelope.

Bought one. I absolutely LOVE it! Works flawlessly and the ability to toss a load in before leaving the house and have it done when I get home. Clothes come out very clean and it’s pretty quiet.

Just got mine. Already using and loving it. My house is tiny and my previous set were stacked crammed in a small closet. Now I can have storage above. Perfect.

These have been amazing for us. Our condo doesn’t allow heating ducts. This was a perfect replacement with only requiring 120v outlet.

I bought this washer/dryer combo after seeing a commercial on TV last week. I really didn't need it because my current Maytag washer and dryer were still in perfect condition. But the tech gadget junkie in me decided to research this new GE model on the internet. Most of the reviews were very good so I decided to try one while they were still on sale for $1999. I ordered it from Lowe's and I used a 10% mover's coupon. Lowe's delivered the machine the next day. My machine came with a very tiny dent on one side that was barely visible. I took my receipt to Lowe's and they refunded me another 10%. My total for this machine was $1700 which included FL sales tax. Excellent deal! lol

My initial test was to wash a queen sized bed comforter. The wash/dry cycle took roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes. GE claims the clothes might feel wet or damp when they're taken out of the machine. GE also says the clothes will quickly dry to 100% dryness feel. Certain areas of my comforter had that slightly damp feeling. I laid the comforter on my bed and it was completely dry to the touch about 30 minutes later. By the way, the washer did an excellent job at washing the comforter.

Second test was a regular load of clothes which was some shirts, a towel and a few kitchen towels smaller in size. That load took roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes. Once again, the items felt damp but they were completely dried on their own in less than 30 minutes.

A few initial observations on my part. The lint - heat pump filter does an excellent job at catching lint. But I noticed there's a lot of warm moisture air in that compartment. I feel like its a good idea to leave the filter outside the machine at least for a couple hours so the moisture in that area has better chances of escaping. You never want moisture in places no longer than what's necessary.

Second observation is to pull out the laundry detergent hopper and place it in a sink where the excess water left over can drain out. Leaving this water in the hopper while inside the machine all the time is perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Let the water drain from the hopper then put it back in the machine only after everything is dry.

Other than that, this machine is pretty nice. My one and only concern is the longevity of the heat pump inside the unit. Its covered under GE's five year sealed system but I hope it lasts much longer. These machines are very expensive and they should last much longer than five years.

Through some fluke my pre-order (not from Yale... I live in NH, out of their service area) was shipped three weeks ago. I ordered it in late April and expected it in August. But since I installed it, I've run around 10 loads through it and my results are similar to Yale's. Normal loads are a little more than 2 hours and the clothes are dry. I used my IR camera and saw the same hot spot where the compressor is, and also saw around 100°F. Warm, but not too warm to touch. I use a small battery hand vac to vacuum the lint filter instead of using my fingers. I think it will be a good habit to clean it for each load, but the unit will remind you every 5 loads or so, and you have to select clear to suppress the message. A quirk is that even if you chose not to use the detergent and/or softener dispensers, it will still nag you that they are empty. I don't use softener, so I just put water in the softener dispenser to not have the empty message every time I powered up the machine or on the app. The detergent dispenser seems to work... the clothes are clean with very little sudsing. The app is very handy to know when the load is done. It even gives a 5 minute warning. Overall, my wife and I are pleased with the unit. We are building a net-zero house (which is why I didn't need it until late summer), and having it run on 120V and not exhaust conditioned air outside the building envelope is a huge plus. Time will tell its reliability and if lint becomes an issue.

Had mine for 3 months. It is a great unit. Like that I can check my phone and change setting from the app and the large container for detergent and fabric softener. I do see that the first cycle of it detecting the load it really spins hard and anything on top of unit will be shook off. Unless I need to level it better

Only had mine for a few days and already ordered a second one for the laundry room. I just washed a dog bed on the sanitize w/oxi setting and it is a night and day difference compared to my old Samsung washer and dryer set.

I’ve had mine for a couple weeks now & love it. I did find it on sale for the 4th at Nebraska Furniture Mart & paid $3500 for two units.

Thanks for another great review. I pre ordered one of these units about a week ago. Waiting on your assessment of the machine to either go ahead with, or cancel my order. There was nothing in your review to discourage me, so I will be getting the machine on June 1 or very close to that date. Looking forward to giving it a workout. Thanks again for your timely review.

I’m glad to hear that this thing works. It is a godsend for people who have limited space and/or who (like me) are lazy. 😂😂😂

Bravo GE! 🎉🎉🎉

I've been using the Samsung DV25B6900EW/A2 heat pump dryer first at a condo for 6-8 months then had to get a new one for the house I moved to. Had that for about 19 months and have never had a single issue with it. I absolutely love it, even more than the Bosch that was in the house before and an apartment before that. I'd been super curious about an all-in-one but they were small (went with Samsung for the size, which is a larger but still compact set) so I jumped on it when this came out (even though the Samsung set is only 19 months old now).

It was delivered today and I did one small test load plus a separate load with one queen size quilt. The one serious concern I have is how much heat it's producing. It heated the downstairs so much that I had to turn on the AC. It's quite warm to touch the top, as well. You mention heat-it'll be great in our MN winters, but not so much the hot, humid summers. Are there concerns it may overheat?

Second, because there were complaints about the compressors smelling bad on heat pump dryers, I used to always open the door and remove the compressor cover when not in use so it dried out nicely. I never had any kind of a smell issue, and found it was easier to clean the compressor when the accumulated lint was dry. I don't see anything about using a brush to clean the compressor on this and it looks like it maybe is located next to the lint filter. If so, maybe I should be leaving the lint filter out in between uses so the compressor dries? Why don't you need to clean the compressor on this one? Thanks for the review, by the way. Really good info

Recently purchased a Zanusi heat pump drier. 650 Euros Also a new washer Beko 350 Euros which was quite well specc’ed. Hard to see where this is well more than double, other than the convenience. These would be great for overnight use to take advantage of lower energy tariffs, but the up front costs wipe out the advantage. Pity.
