My grandpa made it 50 years ago using a gas tank and an old fridge. It's still working nowadays. The most silent air compressor I've ever used. And it's plenty powerful too, reaching 8 ATMs at peak pressure.

What separates DIY from engineers is the fact that lots of design oversight is blatantly present regarding the fact the refrigerator compressors aren’t designed for high pressure systems and how the makeshift air tank is now compromised with all the holes made without proper reinforcement.

I’m not too concerned with it though because that vinyl tubing pumping air into the tank is going to fail before the thing has enough pressure to explode. Alternatively, since the tube isn’t a 1-way valve, it will burn out the motor before high enough pressure can be sustained.

Use the money from the views of this video and buy a real air compressor.
