Garuda's landing gear took 2-3 business days to fully extend - this is why I kept the camera on the FedEx DC-10/MD-10 in that infamous video you've all probably seen by now - I was expecting to get a go-around, instead I got a successful landing with a very late gear extension.

That first plane had it's ram air turbine out on it's right wing, so if there's some engine trouble then they'll want to glide for as long as possible and let the gear gravity drop and lock into place without causing drag for longer than needed.
