What is Conscious Consumerism?
Conscious Consumerism is simply knowing where you’re purchasing your product from. This ranges from foods to skin care products, fashion etc.
Some fast fashion brands out there are leaning more towards a hybrid of sustainable fashion and they’re own model with sustainable fast fashion. How do we know they’re telling the truth?
According to Eva Yazhari, a great way to start is by weeding out greenwashing. What is greenwashing? It is essentially just overmarketing an element of a product or service that says it’s all good, when in reality it isn’t. There are a lot of resources online that can help you with this and one is a company having a B Corporation certification. What is B corporation certification? A certified B corporation is a corporation that is positive for people, planet, and profit.
Another great resource is Good On You, which breaks down retailers by category and gives them an overall score. Good On You also suggests alternatives that are better for the planet.
