When I was involved in the church, I saw another disempowering thought: "if it's God's will." People refused to make any choices, or act in any way, just deferring it all to "God's will." "If I get pregnant, it's God's will" -- and thus won't use any contraception because that could be contradictory to "God's will."

I agree that the age we're living in now is about becoming aware of all of these traditions and beliefs that take our power away. What we have to do now is take our power back -- or realize we've never really given it away and it's always been within. We have to realize that we ourselves are the Creator Beings we've been looking for.

I gave up on that dogma years ago because where I am in my life is exactly where Me and My Love (God) created together, and I love my life it is exactly what I set out to do, even if there are horrific bumps in the experience. In the last days, finding you John, I now live TODAY, not in the past, not in the future, period. I AM choosing to live TODAY!

Hi John-I've only come upon your channel in the last week and have been kind of binge watching. I have been both fascinated, intrigued and struck by your approach to faith-may I say to Christianity. Deeply struck by your humility, your authenticity, your integrity-all characteristics of the one I love and follow and have followed all my adult life. The New Age "stuff" is new to me. I'm 70-was a Protestant clergyman 22 years, became Catholic and taught in Catholic high schools for 18 years. My formation is pretty obvious from that. Yet so much of what you are saying about how the faith has been professed these 2000 years, going back to the fact that Christianity became more Pauline than representative of the experience and expression of those who actually walked with Him strikes a chord with me. John, what has impressed me most is how you give expression to the infinite yet profound simplicity of it all, without expectation or judgement. There are things that are a stretch for me (Jesus being married) but your sincerity and presence suggest to me only to keep an open mind. I decided long ago I would follow Him wherever He led. All of which is to offer a sincere thanks to you for you in this work and my prayers for you and your family. You were always my favorite disciple and the story of recognizing Him on the beach that morning after the catch still fills me with an energy and excitement I can never describe every time I read or hear it. About the pre-chosen lives: there are teachers who say that we do have pre-chosen "themes" that we come to earth to explore. One of these teachers would say something like I, for example, came to explore the theme of power -- BUT -- the WAY I choose to experience this theme in this lifetime is entirely up to me. I can allow myself to be abused by power, I can wield power over others, I can experience power from a thousand different perspectives, from total powerlessness to total power. I think I've reincarnated many times in order to experience power from all kinds of different perspectives, so I can fully understand the meaning of power.

I know it's a popular new age belief that we choose to go through specific challenges before coming here, but it just doesn't make sense when you really think about it. Why would anyone choose to learn through suffering? Unless they believed they had to. So, maybe each life is a continuation of previously held beliefs - no one really knows.

I am getting more and more comfortable with I AM and this idea that I get to choose moment by moment. It's so freeing and loving. Thank you for your insights and happy birthday, John!
