Engagement Ring - Color Shift

This is the ring with which I proposed marriage to Tarah. She said yes.

We both are opposed to the "precious stones" industry's cultivation of false value and support of pretty awful economic interests in the developing world, so we knew that a lab-created stone was the plan. Likewise above, our distaste for DeBeers, "bling culture", and their ilk steered us away from diamonds specifically.

So this is a color-shifting diaspore. The 6 karat stone reflects back wildly different hues of light depending on the source. Daylight, incandescent, LED, etc... they all produce very unique tones.

But they are all, we are pleased to note, pear colors. Yellows and greens and even reds and tans. 🍐

It is an absolute game changer. Instead of having some bozo behind a counter bringing out ring after ring after ring that you don't quite like... you can sit with a pro doing amazing, rapid-fire 3D modeling. Change the band, the prongs, the metal, etc. All in seconds.

It's remarkable. I strongly recommend it.

Is that an Alexandrite? Or a different stone?
