Color-Change Brazilian Alexandrite Ring, 11.02 Carats

Показать описание
The 11.02-carat Brazilian alexandrite at the center of this ring possesses the remarkable ability to change color. Unlike their Russian counterparts that change from green to red, those alexandrites that hail from the mines of Brazil display a stunning blue-green hue under white light and change to a rich reddish-purple when viewed under incandescent light. This brilliant-cut example is certified by GemResearch Swisslabs, the American Gemological Laboratories and the Swiss Gemmological Institute as being a natural alexandrite of Brazilian origin with a prominent color change. It is beautifully set in platinum with 1.75 total carats of diamonds.

I bought a parure set in 18k yellow gold about 35 years ago containing this stone. The ring was 1 ct., the solitaire pendant was a bit bigger and the bracelet had about 8-9 half ct. (or so) stones. The color was a beautiful deep purple/blue when you were inside but I hated the pale minty green it was when I was outside, so I gave it away to my then daughter-in-law, who promptly lost all of it during one of their several moves within a short 2-3 year period! Today, that set would have probably been worth a pretty penny!!!

It's great but you need to demonstrate the colour change. If it's a great stone the change will be incredible.

My birthstone.
Fluorescent lights made it turn brown, in addition to the purple (usually sunlight) and green (usually incandescent) mentioned. I seem to remember it could sometimes appear grey. Been a long time since i wore a ring with it.

As a Gemini born in June I feel cheated. Our birthstone was supposed to be Alexandrite but because if its scarcity they change it to pearl. We are not pearl people. Alexandrite expressed our duality perfectly. ♊️

Price: North of $700, 000. Probably more than $1 Million. I couldn't find it on their website. Most of their large gems are 'price on request' – which means you damn well can't afford it.
