2020 has had some crazy stories, and the latest headline from China fits in with that trend. There is concern after reports of the bubonic plague being reported by Chinese health officials. But is it legit? Our VERIFY team tracked down the report and confirmed the bubonic plague was detected in China.

However, you shouldn't really be worried. According to the CDC, there's about seven cases of the plague in the United States each year. It is serious and can be fatal, but modern medicine means you probably don't need to worry about a plague pandemic.

Was trying to tell people about this in early 2019! As well as the " unusual respiratory infection" spreading in China as reported by Australian news outlets. But I'm called a conspiracy theorist. Now it's 2021. Hmmmm.
