With the holidays coming up, you will probably be invited to more dinner parties. That is why in this video we will look at the 14 things that you should not do when attending a dinner party.

If you bring flowers, they need to be in a vase, so the host is not scrambling to find something to put them in.

I am from Albania originally and we were taught all these things you mentioned in this video from a very young age. So I follow these rules throughout my life but it always surprises me when people from other cultures and countries that I lived in don’t. I always thought it’s our different culture! In Indian culture, it's appreciated to bring home-cooked dishes and sweet dessert (sugar-free ones for diabetic people)

Flowers do work, but mostly in birthdays, wedding, or house warming parties.

And if it is a party hosted by generation x or boomer (in India of course), then chocolates and champagne are a definite no no. Cause they might consider it as immature or simply outrageous

I have to tell you something funny. When my brothers were young, one of my friends came to dinner. I don't know what got into him, but the older of the three decided that it would be a lot of fun to gross her out at the dinner table. He came up with some of the most awful things. She just sat there and had her dinner. It eventually got so bad that he actually grossed himself out and had to leave the table. She never once lost her composure.

After dinner, one of my younger brothers remarked, "Cheryl is the nicest person!" All because of..her manners.

That was many years ago, but I brought the subject up to my brother not too long ago, remembering things. He chuckled and said yeah. I was a brat then. And he was! But Cheryl remains stellar in his mind as well as the other boys. By the way, I never told them that he she had eight brothers. It wasn't her first rodeo.🙂

As a frequent host of dinner parties, I prefer not to get a bouquet of stemmed flowers from guests at the door. I have to stop what I am doing to take care of putting them in a vase and this interferes with my schedule and greeting subsequent guests. I love flowers already in a vase, so I can place them where they compliment my decorations.

Let' not forget that bringing sweets is only appropriate if the host or important guests are not on a diet or struggling with an eating disorder! If we don't know, flowers or a simple seasonal gift such as a candle will be much better in my opinion.
