The Mixed Reality application LIV now has live stabilizing for "any" SteamVR game! This is huge for recording nicer looking videos. Let's take it for a spin!

Its not bad since it does what it it supposed to do. But in vr it is vital to see atleast some angles.

Like when you lean to look behind a corner, stabilization makes sense, since you still see behind it.
But when (like in this video) you look down to look at the puzzle pieces for example(or in other cases up to look at the sky) you wont see it in LIV´s recording.

That can make people miss out on a lot of stuff going on.

Anyway. great vid and happy to see more content from you :D

I'm kind of shocked this isn't just how VR spectating works by default in 2023....

It definitely works. It looks like it's being filmed by one of those shoulder mounted cameras that's on a balancing gimbal. It has a bit of an unnatural look but if it helps people not get motion sickness it's a good tradeoff.

Games with native LIV support have much better smoothing and wider FOV, but this is still better than capturing raw gameplay for most games that aren't supported. at 2:21 use the first 'Capture' mode and not the 'smooth FPV' then select the LIV camera and set it up in VR.

You should cover Reality Mixer, it lets you spawn passthrough zones in your playspace, and even anchor them to trackers or controllers. You could have your dog show up in VR when it runs into your room. It's lower res than you would need to be able to read your phone, but you could put a tundra tracker on your phone, take it out of your pocket, and use Siri or make a call without taking off the headset. I want to try stuck to a gamepad when I play gamepad VR games.

Hey Ben any chance you could upload in 1080p going forward? hehe

I've been testing it today. The less zoom you set, the less smoothness value you should use or you will see black borders on sides when you make a quick move. At least with my HP G2, I cannot reach the same FOV with LIV. It's a tradeoff, less FOV, more stable image.

Finally! Been waiting for steamvr users to get something like this. As an Oculus user, I've been using the Oculus mirror for years now and it's full of options. But in the future when I move away from oculus, I won't be able to use it, so I was hoping someone would make something like this. I figured it'd be valve eventually since they did it in HL Alyx but nope. Good job LIV.
Although one question, are you able to increase the video's fov at all? I do like how in oculus mirror you can use a stabilizer like this as well as tweak fov settings, so it doesn't look so zoomed in.

I think it's too strong though. I like at least knowing if someone is tilting their head to see something.

Is LIV the tool to use if you want to both capture VR footage and export videos as VR180 compatible content? Have you ever done a video on this topic?

I'm playing Assetto Corsa Competizione and the HUD is on a different layer ingame, it's only visible looking through the VR headset and not on your screen. Is there any way I can convince LIV/VIVR to show the lens/one eye instead of the window? I could do this with Oculus mirror and with my HP Reverb that works through OpenVR but that's not stabilized. LIV's input should actually be OpenVR for that and not my screen.

It's been so long since I've put my vive on. The games I'm into seem to have slowed down as of late. Shame. Such an amazing way to play

Have you tried The Dark Method? It looks interesting and polished, but I've never seen any coverage of it.

Hi Ben, quick question. My liv stablisation capture is either left or right eye which means I have to crop the footage. It seems that you got a full screen capture instead of the one eye hexagon capture. Is that right? If so, how did you pull it off? Thanks

Didn't you launch things in the wrong order? The instructions you read stated that you needed to launch LIV before you launch your game, but you did the reverse. Just wondering if that would make a difference.

My game lags out really bad when I use this

Does LIV have a easy built in recorder? Nvidia Shadowplay kinda sucks in video recording VR games.

not really good. The capture window without distortion is very smal so you miss most of the pic.Nice try from liv but kinda too strong in stabilization and no settings. For me unusuable

You must FIND a PAY a local professional to fix your VR stuff. Steam hates customers and headset manufactures think that anyone who is crazy enough to buy their plastic crap DESERVES to get screwed.
