I did every day straight hair, but watching this video I realized I had to stop doing it, so I went to the bathroom, I washed my hair, I looked and I said "ok I am this girl and I like it for what I am "so it's thanks to you that I am now myself

Wow, my story is similar to yours. In Brazil people are obsessed about straightening their hair. Everyone uses progressiva. It cost me to come to the USA and spending 4 years at a historical black college to finally decide to embrace my hair. It is amazing how the society we live in influences how we see beauty. I still have no idea how my hair looks like since I have relaxed my hair from a very young age. I decided though I will go back to whatever my hair looks like. I only have 3 fingers grown, but I hope to hang in there.

Your hair is just gorgeous!!! I love it!!! My hair journey has been very similar to yours! I used to hate my hair, it used to be so kinky and frizzy and thick! I straightened it and got keratin treatments but got tired of getting it re-done every few months. So I went natural and cut off all the dead ends. My hair was so short! But it grew back and today I love my hair! I rarely ever straighten it. I learned that you can fight with your hair, or take care of it and it's true beauty will show 😘

I LITERALLY RELATE SO MUCH! I used to get tons of products in fourth grade and stopped letting my mom do my braids cause people kept touching them so I started using straighteners and all that stuff caused breakage, cause no one in my family introduced me into caring for curly hair. I remember hating my curly hair cause my class all had straight hair, but now I love the world of curls and growing it out! My hair used to be past my butt but the breakage from the straighteners cause my ends to break and now my hair is shoulder length. Now I am teaching my sisters to love their curls!

OMG I'm going through the same thing right now!! I had beautiful curly hair (3b and 3c) when I was younger. I started straightening it, not knowing it was damaging my curly hair. Now I look back at pictures and home made videos of me with my long beautiful curly hair and I get so sad! I'm currently trying to transition back to my naturally curly hair and your video gave me hope! I subscribed immediately!!

It's honestly so nice to see someone with a similar story and hair texture as myself. We're actually the same age and in high school I strengthened my hair every day because people always told me I looked better with it straight. Senior year, I won "best hair" in my yearbook, only leading me to be more self conscious of my naturally curly hair. I've never really liked my natural hair before but this past year I've left it curly and I'm slowly learning to love my hair for what it is. Yes! You saying progressiva is so correct!! Its so interesting to see how curly gurls around the world have the same problems making them decide to straight the curls...so sad to feel like that! You have a really good hair stylist. She did an excellent job of giving you pretty highlights, without using cheap products, or being in a hurry to speed up the lightening process, which can fry your hair.

I was at that stage where I really hate my curly hair, and was considering a straightening treatment, but you helped me realize that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and I should work what I've got. Thank you so much for sharing your curly hair journey. My hair is naturally curly, and I have always straightened it. each time I wear it curly, people ask me if I am tired if I am okay. You are right, I have to be patient, and wait until it grows. You are an inspiration. From now on, I am going to leave my hair curly just the way it is.

That was a great transitioning story! Beautiful hair! It's great that you are sharing this, so many people think the "straightening your hair" stigma is no big deal, when in reality, it is.
