Labour: Sunak 'lied' about Starmer's tax plans during TV debate

Shadow Paymaster General Jonathan Ashworth has told Sky News that Rishi Sunak "lied" about Labour's tax plans.

The prime minister repeated accusations that Labour's spending plans would cost each family £2,000 during a debate on ITV.

One reason for the perception that Starmer failed to land any killer blows is that Julie Etchingham didn't allow him to.
She consistently closed him down when it was his turn to speak and allowed Sunak to interrupt and shout over him.
I'm not the only viewer frustrated about this.

The LBC lad tom had the same question for a Tory MP and just did a little fact check and found out that it was in fact a lie spun by Sunak. Why couldn't Sky have the balls to do the same fact check?

An unelected Caretaker PM blatantly lied to the British people last night. His behaviour in the debate was unedifying for his office.
Julie Etchingham @itv lost control of that debate last night. Kay Burly would not have taken the constant interruptions by Sunak. The game show style format of the debate limiting the answer time per question destroyed any chance of real scrutiny of either of the candidates. Shockingly bad debate on so many fronts.

The calibre of Labour politicians is head and shoulders above that of the tories. The time has come for a serious government to tackle the problems we face rather than the barrel scrapings that we have in the current government.
