Ice Skating on the Small Lake, Nordic style

After a few days with cold weather it's finally time for some ice skating, Nordic style, on natural ice on a lake. It's a cold day and perfect conditions, and very refreshing! Långfärdsskridskor we call them, long distance ice skates.

I desperately need this in my life. I recently went from skating on a hockey rink to a speed skating oval and it blew my mind. If I was out there in the peace of nature with this much open space… I don’t think I’d leave till the ice melted

What stunningly beautiful scenery. There is little that is more spectacular than conifers laden with snow. And the sound of those skates blades on ice bring back childhood memories of being the first and solo on the neighborhood rink after it was flooded.
