Soldier Boy/Ben was born in 1919, which a lot of people seem to forget. Back then the ideas about how to be a man where very different from today. Ben is relying on old-fashioned ideals in a world he doesn't recognize because everything's changed and what was normal in 1984 isn't the way it works anymore. He also missed out on 40 years because he being held captive in Russia. Everything we do now is new to him. Cellphones. The internet. Social media. Topics that once were never discussed, like mental health, are finally being talked about. Ben knows he's messed up, but he isn't used to putting a name to what he feels, let alone that saying he's not okay really is okay. Ben also found he has a grown son, Homelander, and a grandson, Ryan. So give a chance to adjust to the 21st century before you judge him, and remember what he's been through, please?
