Shame you couldn’t get the MY24 with the new battery pack and motor set up. Biggest efficiency issue with the MY23 and earlier is the fact that it can’t disconnect or decouple the front motor and it shows in the energy usage between the two.

That and the MY24 can do 200kw of DC charging with a brilliant charging curve

For me, BEVs are cars first. So what do I care about most? Body structure, ride quality, solidity, comfort. If the tech works well enough, good enough for me. I'm not tech-centric. This has nothing to do with age either. It's priorities. Mine are mechanical refinement over tech. So, the most interesting part of the review is how the ride is defined. And that's the big selling point in this car. Ride, solidity, a mature, refined package. This is a shared with ICE and older platform and I think the EX30 and Volvo's EX90 will be better in the EV department (ground-up BEV platforms), albeit will never be the most efficient cars because that's not what Volvo is about.

Thanks for another great review Chris! This C40 seems to have both positives and negatives compared to the MY. Personally I much prefer the look of the Tesla (I've never been a fan of Volvo cars in general, however the Polstar is a nice EV!) and I find the technology is still superior in the Tesla, even though it doesn't have AA and Apple Carplay (I never use these anyway). The efficiency of the C40 is woeful to say the least! Not sure what happened there, but like you said it is a very heavy car.

Damn that efficiency is not great. My Ioniq 6 at highway speeds on a non hilly road gives around 14kWh/100km, not to mention the 800V Ultra Rapid charging.
