tattoos on the soft parts of your hands fade really quickly and will need to be touched up. I've known people who have tattoos on the inside and the soft parts of their hands completely go away bc they aren't redoing it/touching it up. its because you use ur hands so much and is such a delicate area. Plus washing ur hands, the sun, and how heavy of a hand the artist has all impact how long it will last. the front (hard bony part) stays much longer. i wanted tattoos on the sides of my fingers and the tattoo artist wouldn't even do it because he said it wasn't worth it because it would fade so fast. I'm so glad he told me that cuz i would have ended up wasting my money. Also with smaller tattoos in those areas, it's a good idea to get it touched up after the initial healing process because it does fade and flake during the healing cuz unlike tattoos in other areas you aren't able to cover it.

I actually want to get a similar tattoo idea. basically when I was 7 my uncle had a stroke and since I was 7 I couldnt go into the hospital. My cousin and parents and aunt and grandma all got this tattoo of his heartbeat as a meaningful tattoo and I was too young to get one. A few days later my uncle ended up passing away and I didn't get to say goodbye. So when I'm older I want to take a picture of my mom's tattoo and get the exact same one on my forearm like my family did so my best friend/ uncle will always be with me.
