Her name is Apo Whang-Od born February 17, 1917), also known as Maria Oggay, is a Filipina tattoo artist from Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga, Philippines.She is often described as the "last" and oldest mambabatok (traditional Kalinga tattooist) and is part of the Butbut people of the larger Kalinga ethnic group.

Another fun fact is she only does traditional tattoos. And she does not let you choose. She chooses for you what tattoo she will do based on the meaning of the tattoo she gives you

I got the chance to meet her and get tattoed by her a few months back, it was probably the most painful thing I've willingly said yes to, but it was worth it because it was the reason we climbed up the mountain in the first place, it was definitely one of the best experiences I've had, going to Buscalan and experiencing their culture and their way of life, it was refreshing to see kids not using phones as much as you see in the cities. 10/10 we're planning to go back there with more family members someday.
