The Symbiote in 616 wasn't evil. It was just a pet that amplified Peter's abilities possibly including anger, but when Peter realized the suit was alive and wanted it gone, that pissed off the Symbiote so when it attached to Brock, the suit and him both wanted revenge on Peter. Later in the comics the Symbiote's violent tendencies was the result of being so far from it's home world. There's also a story where because it was attached to Deadpool before Spidey, where that also could have an affect on the Symbiote (not sure if that was 616 canon but worth mentioning). Hell, even Eddie became a hero for a bit in Venom: Lethal Protector. In the 982 universe the Symbiote even saved Mayday Parker's life. So for the 616 and the 982 universe the Symbiote itself isn't evil (though if it got on anyone evil, that's bad). For other universes, that's a different story.

Stan Lee deserves a lot of props for how much impact he had in the comics and making spider man. He did something that people thought was a bad idea and thought that a teenager can’t be a primary superhero, just a side kick but Stan Lee changed that.

Huge Spider-Man fan favorite series is the Spectacular Spider-Man series that would play every saturday morning for me.
