Hank gives away the core of the issue. It’s not that he even hates soccer because of its history.

He hates it because it makes it harder for him to understand Bobby.

The fact that there’s a part of his life that he deeply loves but struggles to understand challenges him to his core. Because, to him, things that you love must be intuitive. He is in a sense a loving and caring, but tribal, man to his core. To him all of these things work together to care for his loved ones around him.

But Bobby, being a child, sees the joy in everything around him. And it is forcing hank to accept that, sometimes, for the good of tribe, we have to accept that it will change into things we don’t understand.

Bobby isn’t going to hurt the people around him with his new interest. It’s not a threat to the tribe. The real threat is the absurd outcomes that can be created from not being able to understand and accept that changes simply happen.

Meanwhile it's scientifically proven that Soccer requires the most stamina out of all the team sports in the world. As far as endurance goes it makes all other sports look like premature athletes.

Soccer and Football have the same origin. A long time ago when everybody played by different rules soccer and rugby were sorta the same thing. Once the rules were standardized the hand ball version became rugby which later became Football in the US while the version played with the feet became soccer.

What made this show sob great is that it was an actual animated sitcom that didn't need cartoon gimmicks to deliver funny stories.

Bobby is too wise for his age. A normal child would only be more confused and ask for more explanations. Instead bobby can just decipher the bullshit from hank amd ask him him why the hate and ignorance from hank.
