8 tips Paano madaling maintindihan ang binabasa (Improve your reading comprehension skills)

Reading is essential. Kahit saan ka pumunta lagi siyang ginagamit. Mahalagang maging mahusay sa reading. Kaya sa pag-aaral dapat ma-develop ang reading comprehension skills.

Paano nga ba madaling maiintindihan ang binabasa? Heto ang 8 tips.

1. Focus ka sa binabasa. Mas okay na buo o 100 % kaysa hati ang atensyon. Mainam na komportable ka at busog.
2. I-feel ang binabasa. Kung story: Umpisa sa title, picture/images, characters, setting, at yung daloy ng kwento. Mas makaka-relate ka kapag isinasapuso mo ang binabasa mo. “Relate much” sabi nga.
3. I-highlight ang mga highlights o pinakamahahalagang impormasyon. Pwede mo salungguhitan, kulayan at bilugan. At gumamit ka ng favorite color mo para mas nakakadagdag saya habang nagbabasa. Kapag naiwan kc na wala cyang highlight parang hindi mo p cya nabasa db? So parang back to zero ang dating ng page.
4. Hanapin sa dictionary ang mga unfamiliar words. Halimbawa nabasa mo: “The prince hid in the mountains.” (Ang prinsipe ay nagtago sa kabundukan). Kung hindi mo alam ang kahulugan ng “hid” hindi mo malalaman ang ginawa ng prinsipe.
5. Isulat sa margins at ibang espasyo ang mga SID (super important details) at extra info. Kasi minsan kapag nasa ibang papel, hahanapin mo pa ‘pag review time. So, mas mabilis kapag nandon na sa same page mismo.
6. I-share mo ‘yong natutunan mo. The more mo siyang binabanggit, mas lalo siyang nare-retain sa isip mo. Parang sa bata, malalaman mo na naintindihan niya ‘yong binasa niya o ikinuwento sa kanya kapag nakakapagkwento siya tungkol doon. So storytelling, without looking at the book shows that you know and you understood the story.
7. Balikan ang mga nabasa na. Akala lang kasi natin alam na alam na natin pero ‘pag inulit nating binasa ay mas may nadidiskubre pa tayong impormasyon.
8. Love reading. Kung love mo K-drama, love mo online game, love mo favorite song mo, higit na love dapat ang reading.

Hello, Prof. Gagalang. I am Shanna Mae Flores from URS Tanay. I'd like you to know that this video with the 8 tips for understanding what's being read has been extremely beneficial to me. I realized how to better understand what I'm reading. The tip he gave is very helpful; when reading, give my full attention to whatever I am reading; this way, I will not lose interest in what I am reading while also maintaining the momentum to finish and understand what I was reading. We all know that we, especially millennials and gen-z, are distracted by the devices we have in this modern era particularly cellphones because of social media, and as a result, others lose time management and also not being focus to what they are doing because of being distracted and addicted in using gadgets even in the middle of classes or doing their assignment that is why some students becomes lazy to complete the module or having a low comprehension in what they are reading.

MABUHAY! I'm Jaybhie from URS Tanay Main Campus. In the video I learned that I need to set my priority comes first. In order for me to focus on reading I need to set a time for it, find a right, conducive and comfortable place to read, feel what you read by using my senses and stimulate my imagination to register the pictures and scenarios well, . Taking down notes and highlighting of important information, check unfamiliar words using dictionary to understand the word clearly and take down notes of new found words so it adds up to my vocabulary bank for future usage. Sharing what you learned to others is one way to recall the information and details that you understood from what you read. Re-reading is a great method to recall the details and information that once you learned. Once you read a text, topic or an article for the second or third time, it can give you more better understanding from the first time you read it. Lastly, love what you are doing. If you set your mind to read, find time to read and commit yourself into it without distractions.

Good day Ma'am I am a student from URS- Tanay campus, thank you for sharing this kind of video thats helps the students like me to know some tips on how to read and understand the text/books that we are reading and I think the best way is to focus and and feel each words we read.
Highlighting the important information is the most effective way to review that information later. Readers can't understand what they are reading if they don't find the meaning of every unfamiliar words. Share what you read, it hepls you to remember it. Read it not just once. I advise every student who are very distracted while reading to be more focused, love what you are doing and put all your attention to what you are reading.
