Been using the old style for a few years myself, nice clean shave depending on the blades, platinum blades are good. No cuts

I absolutely agree. I switched about 10 yrs ago and it solved every issue. I suggest getting a badger hair brush and some good shaving soap along with the safety razor.

Yup! Got myself a Merkur 25c with Platinum Astra blades (100 for $10) about 5 years ago. Best shave ever.

My grandfather had his from the navy in a shave kit below the sink my entire life. I was 17 or so when I tried it the first time. I legit have used a “modern “ razor less then 5 times. And it doesn’t even begin to compare to the amazing shave you will get from these. They’re fucking fantastic. 15 years now and it hasn’t let me down

I switched to a butterfly safety razor 10 years ago. I have spent maybe $30 on razor blades since then, total. The difference is night and day. I did splurge and buy a gold plated Merker Futur razor which was maybe $100. It's amazing.

Big ups on this. Made the change a few years ago. Very worth it. A Phillips one blade is also pretty convenient for something quick.

I was very lucky when I was 17 One day and was able to find replacement blades for that Gillette handle at like 25 cents each pack for a pack of 15 of them at a place that was trying to clear them out. I ended up getting 50 packs(750 blades) for $15 I don't shave daily it's been 13 years and I am down to my last 10. I was looking at the price of them for replacement and never knew how expensive they were. I just got really lucky when I first started shaving to find that deal. This video I think has helped me make a decision when I finally run out of blades.

Ive been using a safety razor for over a decade and Love it. Plus Ive spent less on replacement blades in that decade than a single kit for the multiblade things..

I renovated our bathroom a few years back. House was built in the 50's... the medicine cabinet had a slit in the back which I'd never questioned in 20 years of living here.

After tearing out the drywall and medicine cab, I found what had to be 100, 000 spent blades between the studs.
