To me, the original sounds more soft and romantic while the new version sounds more exciting and adventurous. I think they both work well personally.

The only reason the old one sounds too 'disney' is because you grew up associating it with Disney.

Lea Salonga's voice is crystal clear and effortlessly beautiful without any autotune. She has tons of chemistry with the male singer here who I personally think sounds way better than the guy in the remake. The remake couple doesnt sound good together and it has autotune.

I prefer the original because I think it makes both of their voices just as good while the new one makes jasmines quite louder to be honest

I absolutely adore Naomi’s voice. The growth since lemonade mouth is astounding.

The major problem with the new version for me is that the tone was changed into a one-sided power balled or something. Aladdin is supposed to be serenading Jasmine. His part actually still sounds like it but with a different approach, but (and here's the main problem I have) Jasmine sounds like she's trying to one-up Aladdin's performance which takes away from the romantic intentions of the scene. They needed to pick a lane. Go all out with power vocals for both characters, OR go with the more causal approach for both characters. It just doesn't feel like a love song anymore. >_>

I love both versions! Lea definitely has the more Disney princess sound, and Naomi has more of the pop sound, not so much head/falsetto/breathy sound that Lea had. But I love both just the same! The original animated, nothing beats an original, but live action is still awesome! The music is fire in both!

i love how magical the tones in the original.

Let's face the fact the old one is more magical specially in 'Unbelievable sights, Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky' it's so magical bro you feels you're part in the movie.

I sort of like how in the original they don’t blend super well? I think Aladdin makes sense as a more brash voice as he himself is pretending to be a prince, and Lea does a great job at adding a soft side to an otherwise angsty character.

Also Titanic stole that move from Aladdin since Aladdin came out 6 years prior. 😂

It’s actually wild to think Mena (Aladdin) had never sung before this and only got vocal training while making the movie.he sounds good

I like the nostalgic one cause of how lea's voice is crystal clear and more Disney like

Aladdin is my second favorite Disney animated film and I think Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott filled those shoes beautifully, especially Naomi. Her voice is so beautiful. I’d love to see more Aladdin stuff

It's funny that you talk about how deep the OG Aladdin's singing voice was, when Brad Kane (Aladdin's singing voice) was only 18-19 when the movie was being made and came out in 1992, and Lea Salonga, who did Jasmine's singing voice was 20-21.

One thing I found interesting was that in the animated original, Aladdin is showing Jasmine the world, while in the live action remake, Aladdin is showing Jasmine her home country.

I personally prefer the original, but then that probably is nostalgia playing a big part, as the animated Aladdin was the very first film I ever saw in the cinema! My Godmother took me for my birthday and I left the cinema absolutely in love with the film, with my Godmother buying me a sticker book of the story in the cinema lobby! I do feel that the newer version is all about "look how well I can sing" rather than focusing on the lyrics or the character development going on in the song. But I am biased. I can enjoy the newer version in a playlist of songs, but it can never replace the love I have for the original.

I didn't quite feel the same way about the live action version like the original animated song. Mostly because I'm not a huge fan of the instrumentals in the new one (despite the singing being almost just as good). The pure and light orchestral tones in the original make it more magical for me.

It felt as if you were criticizing the original for being “too Disney”, compared to the live-action movie. Which is baffling to me, as you’re watching a Disney movie. 🤨

I think the older one showcased Aladdin’s voice more while the newer one main jasmines voice louder
