Ivan I have say you are one of the most important and exciting YouTubers on Tesla.
I’m always excited seeing a new video pop up!
😁

No doubt about it. It’s Indonesia. I feel like it’s already been announced unofficially. The Shanghai expansion certainly is happening too.

Wouldn't discard Brazil as fast, could supply whole South America, which has a decent car market. Wouldn't be surprised by an announcement in next 2 years.

Indonesia is a safe bet for batteries and maybe for building the cars.

We need to think about the markets for the semi trucks. I can't see China not being one place to build them. And of course they are starting to build semis in Fremont or somewhere now but it's not a gigafactory and there will be big demand for semi trucks.

We think of batteries to stabilize the grid but keep forgetting about solar panels. I have the feeling there will be some major innovation in solar panels over the next 5 years so Tesla will not want to set up a big factory dedicated to a technology which can become obsolete as soon as 6 months. I have the feeling that's why they have not ramped up solar. But solar is key to going with renewables.

As an Australian, I have seen the potential for our nation to be a leader in the field with the good fortune to be mineral rich and an abundant amount of sun, wind and land available, along with a well developed industrial and educational base. However, as mentioned in the video, for the past 9 years we had a government that appears to have been in the pocket of the fossil fuel companies. At almost every turn they have done their best to discredit and demean the transition to newer technologies, at the expense of the nation in reaching its full potential in the field of renewable energy. The new federal government seems much more enlightened as are most of the state governments. I hope this change isn't too late for Tesla to consider Australia as a location to manufacture batteries. I don't believe we are the ideal location for vehicle manufacture but Tesla Energy and the manufacture of mega packs etc and battery packs for vehicles could be well suited to our nations particular attributes.

If either Indonesia or Australia, they will likely build right side driver (left side road) vehicles only and allow Shanghai to build left side driver only cars. This will avoid switchovers from left to right and also reduce shipping distances (e.g., Indonesia is closer to most right side driver countries).

Ivan you're the best! Thanks for the videos!

Indonesia is very likely due to it's nickle reserves and doesn't want to export simply raw materials. Meanwhile we are going to need a LOT of batteries and not just for vehicles. I see an Indonesian factory being built primarily for batteries and battery packs.

I really enjoyed your analysis! Love how you bypassed Russia. I look forward to Tesla's next factory announcement for Gigascaling!

Indonesia close to Australia and new Zealand and I think a favourite. Australia also has had past vehicle production and needs an ev revolution

Thailand currently imports EVs from China with 0% import duty, and 50% - 80% from every other country, so a plant in Indonesia will not supply the Thai market.

A RHD factory in Australia in WA or SA could export to future RHD markets across the Indian Ocean totalling 2+ Billion people - Africa, ME, Pakistan, India and some SE Asia countries.

If UK is in the running, I think it may be more Solar and/ or batteries.
Note we're developing more wind power, with 3.6 GW coming in line off the east coast in 2 years.
The cleanest part of the UK is Scotland, essentially self sufficient in green energy.
I recall Elon actually visiting Teeside (near Scotland) last summer.
Honda closed their car plant nearby 2 months after his visit, so there's expertise there.
I suppose the UK Government plans to build hydrogen infrastructure won't help.

They could make the batteries in Indonesia and the cars in Australia. As this video points out, we have lots of car manufacturing experience here, and I am sure that thousands of former auto workers would jump at the chance to work for Tesla. We also have a lot of potential in Australia to sell large numbers of EV's at the right price. Indonesia has a massive population but has a smaller vehicle fleet than Australia. Plus, any cars made here could be exported to multiple countries in the region including NZ which is further ahead in EV takeup than Australia, and also has lots of hydro power so is a perfect candidate for electrification of vehicle transport.

I don’t think any cars will be built in Australia wages costs too high.

have to seriously look at osaka cos of factory for batteries just outside. germany also has huge manufactor competition and think elon sees as a coup to enter those giant markets cos also have great manufactoring experts in those countries. fact that EU buys so many tesla (norway incl) and UK is also high on graph a 2nd factory in europe would be good. actually if you add UK to EU it surpasses USA as 2nd biggest car market. If you add Russia too you are at 16.7m! Italy has a huge car making tradition that could offset some of strain on berlin. idk just an idea because idra is based there they could build a factory just outside milan.
