I currently drive a used Nissan Leaf. About a year ago I was rear ended by an ICE car. No I was not hurt, nor did a fire start in the battery pack. I thaught my used 2015 Nissan Leaf handled the collision nicely. Thanks to Lithia Body and Paint, it looked like no crash happened.

I bought a Model S in Summer ‘16, with autopilot v1 (so without full self driving). In roughly 3, 5 y there have been 3 occasions when the car hit the brakes just before I did, detecting a collision ahead of me whilst driving some 65-70mph. I imagine I wouldn’t have been a part of the collisions anyway as I spotted them myself as well, but nevertheless it gives me a very safe feeling there’s ‘somebody’ who’ll have my back when for some reason I wouldn’t spot the danger. The only reason why I would ever trade in this car, is to have a newer Tesla model.

I worked at a Chrysler dealership. I asked a guy that had been a salesman for 40 years how often customers asked about safety. He said NEVER, NOT ONCE. He said people just assume it's safe or it wouldn't be for sale. Good for Tesla for going that extra mile when so many companies won't and average customers aren't even aware of how dangerous some vehicles are.
