How to put on cycling shorts

How to properly put on cycling bib shorts so that the grippers don’t bind and cause the fabric to stretch or tear. This works wit road suits and traditional shorts as well.

I use padded shorts, but they seem to cause me very bad chaffing. Should they fit tight in the groin area? When I ride in briefs I don't get that problem.
