After 10 years as House of Commons Speaker, John Bercow will be stepping down by 31 October. Well known for his theatrical shouts of 'Order' to unruly MPs, he has also proved to be a controversial figure in one of the most turbulent episodes in British politics. When he gave Boris a dressing down for his addressing of the foreign secretary I instantly fell in love with him. A gentleman is measured on his character, which is ultimately addressed on how he treats others. His refusal to let slip a man pretending he doesn’t know a woman’s name then to just to refer to her via her husbands title is admirable.
