The 'murder mystery' is interesting. The push-dagger / shiv he carried had blood from others on it. He also has injuries on his hands, which did not have time to heal.
Perhaps he killed or fought off the attackers, escaped, found shelter under a snowbank, and died there, being only once thawed out before being found many thousands of years later, the thaw spreading fragments of his straw cape and other small items, as found.

So many questions...and speculations! It's all very interesting, but I think the part about his tattoos and how they might be some sort of ancient pain therapy is very interesting. Also, as an EMT, we use charcoal to help alleviate stomach issues as well as to filter water for drinking...hmmmm? I visited Otzi in Bolzano in 2022 and am fascinated by his life and story as I am a bowhunter!
