Sherlock as Mycroft, is also living in a world of goldfish, the difference is that Sherlock is curious and takes an interest in observing people and is even willing to go and interact with them when it suits him. As Mycroft seems to think he is above them or is too afraid to approach but keeps pretending he doesn't care.

"Yes, but I've been away for two years" - Which means when he's not away, he's there as a friend/'arch-enemy' to Mycroft. I mean it's obvious, but nice to hear him say it like that. So much for the lack of 'sentiment' 😂 <3

The only issue with these banter scenes is that honestly Mycroft never earned them. Like he is smart but they never really show him outsmarting Sherlock and arguably the opposite happens.

Book Sherlock actually had a number of friends. He attended a posh boarding school and played football (soccer). He is also an avid boxer and cyclist and does a lot of legwork on each of his cases. He has many cover identities and often solves cases through his impressive social skills.
They really did him dirty in the show.
Too bad too, Cumberbatch could totally have pulled it off!

To be fair, Mycroft and Sherlock playing their game in the window was a scene I just loved so while I get the rather obvious "I act like a jerk but I actually really treasure my bro" approach I do miss the openly good relationship they had in that adaptation.
