VW/Audi Gen 3 TSI Engine Overview

A brief overview of what's under the hood of Gen 3 TSI cars. I'd like to cover each of the current engines used by Volkswagen to show owners what the components of their car are under the hood. Car situated at the 50+ year family owned Langan VW in Glastonbury, CT!

On these engines, change the oil and filter every 5, 000 miles. Forget the "recommended" 10, 000 mile oil changes. An oil change is way cheaper than a new engine. These engines run hot. Changing the oil early is cheap insurance.

I drive on the highway for a living. Change the oil once a month. Currently at 385, 274 miles and counting

Just crossed 217, 000 miles in my 2016 passat - replaced the catalytic converters. Changed plugs/coils at 187, 000 - I drive like Grandma

I wonder how much carbon buildup is on the intake valves as this is direct injection only, do they have to be cleaned often?

great car, but if you get a P0011, look at 1:30 behind the dipstick. this is the magnet for the camshaft, this is a good start if you are getting misfires when the engine is below 190. I wish i knew this sooner rather than taking off the intake manifold and cleaning the valves ( which is also a problem after a buncha miles). I just like to share this incase it helps someone before throwing money at random sensors like I did.

Is the throttle body the silver and black block in front of the intake manifold ??

Does the head gasket leak on the water pump? How about the magnetic chain leak?

What’s the best oil to use with this cars ? I own a 2012 VW Cc 2.0t sport 4 cylinder I usually use Castrol oil but I took it to pep boys and they use penzoil and I see lots of people use different brands someone help

I keep getting a epc light every now and then.. it goes away when i turn off the engine and won't show up for another few days. Any idea what the reason would be? The car is running just fine, no loss of power or limp mode
