When Aeris was three weeks old we found out she has a severe to profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (in both ears) .

Although initially devastated that our newborn baby girl couldn't hear the world around her, at 6 weeks old she was fitted with her very first pair of hearing aids and we were thrilled when she could hear Mummy for the first time.

Oh, that is so beautiful to watch. Her eyes light up, and she gets really quiet. She first turns to look at her mother. Then hears the audiologist’s voice, and is fascinated. So special.
