What you said around the 9:20 mark really resonated with me—it’s something I’ve been thinking about since, I believe, the pandemic. In a way, I hear from you more often than I do from some of my real-life friends. As we grow older, life gets busier with kids, careers, and other responsibilities, and the time we have for friendships seems to shrink.

That said, your channel has created a unique space where we can share our passion for Star Wars, and in a weird way, it feels like a connection/friendshit with you, even though we don’t actually know each other.

There's a kind of unspoken "You ought to be doing this for love, or you're a shill!" attitude that a lot of people seem to apply when they approach YouTube creators, and the reality is that putting out content on a regular basis is a job, and most creators aren't independently wealthy. The sports team analogy is a good one. Just because management or ownership can’t seem to stop screwing up the team that I love doesn’t mean that a) I stop loving the team, 2) that I stop going to games (though I may very well go to *fewer* games - I sat out the entire “Acolyte” season), or d) that I don’t stop hoping for them to someday get it right. To me Star Wars was a living breathing franchise before Disney, the movies were peak fiction that felt like a long lost story from another galaxy, the expanded universe took it places that the movies couldn’t, it explored the entire galaxy and multiple time periods, sometimes with bizzare stories but always fresh and well told. with so many diverse and well written characters that felt like real people even if they just existed in books, comics and video games. To me that is Star Wars and Disney can never take that away, they can claim they own it, but you cannot truly own something that is alive. The true Star Wars will always live on in the true fans

I feel like for a passionate fan of Star Wars, your reviews are usually some of the most centered, objective, and well structured ones of the whole Youtube reactions/reviews channels. You're never falling in any expletives and superlatives, and always have a matter-of-fact, well spoken and never getting emotional attitude, unlike most other Star wars channels who always hyperjump into one or another way.
Which make you come as a well balanced person as a whole, who's in control of his emotions, despites talking about someting he's passionate about. And that takes a certain amount of dedication and effort ! (or just being born with a temperament that sits right at the middle of the Force, neither light nor dark).

I do find other SW channels entertaining, but yours and Generation Tech are always my go to for your no-bullshit, facts-only attitude.
I feel like a lot of reviews channels (not limited Star Wars) should really take some time to study your content and take example on your way of thinking and doing things. In an ever more polarizing world, I would really love to see more Youtubers (and well, influencers at large) with your down to earth, centered attitude

I'm part of the first trilogy hardcore fans, Return of the Jedi was the only original movie of the trilogy that I had on VHS when I was a kid (and I just destroyed the tape with the amount of times I rewatched it).
And I do resent Disney for running my love of Star Wars to the ground, since I'm now fully checked out (I'm part of the 33% of people who're probably never check Skeleton Crew, despites hearing many great things about it, AND knowing that the Daniels, directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once, my favorite movie of this decade so far, have directed an episode in it ! That's saying a lot about the damages Disney have done to the franchise ! Apart from Rogue One, Mando s1&2, Visions and the phenomenal Andor, everything else they've done only shat in my mouth and wanted me to be grateful for it and I'm done. I'll watch Andor s2 and maaaybe the Mandalorian movie, and if miraculously they decide to pull off a Visions book 3, and after that, I'm bye bye Star Wars),

I also resent Disney partly because now that I'm checked out from SW, that makes me watch less of your content (I started following you from the first few days of the Mandalorian, if I remember well). But I'm glad you're still here, despites the dredge, and glad you still can find some modicum of joy through Skeleton Crew.
I don't watch anything Star wars anymore, but I'll still watch some of your vids from a distance.

Star Wars IS bigger than Disney, but it's also bigger than George Lucas. It should never stray far from his core saga, but Star Wars has been expanded on by many others through video games, comics, and books. While Luke is my favorite character of all time, some of my other favorites come from the Thrawn Trilogy and other Legends books. Star Wars is a whole world; others build on it, but the best root their work in Lucas's foundation.

But seriously I admire your optimism. I dont think you can really "kill" a franchise; it ebbs and flows. No matter how far gone a beloved franchise can go, enough CONSISTENTLY good content will bring anybody back. It might take a long time, but it's not impossible.

LET IT GO. There are tons of other stories, properties, games, books, etc. SW had its day. Same with LotR, ST, The Matrix, HP, GoT, and so forth. Plenty of other exemplary tales out there.

Thor, I've been watching and commenting on your videos since your theory videos about The Force Awakens. You have been such a reasonable voice in Star Wars discourse and I love your commentary.
