Real Steel Knives. NEW for 2017 - The POINTMAN - A Full Review

Real Steel Knives is the first Chinese knife company that I found which had knives of quality outside of the budget market. My first knife from them was the H6-S1 which I liked so much that when I saw a small online store in the USA had the titanium S571 Pro for about half the price that all the other stores had I jumped at it. Turns out their price was misprinted on the website, but they honoured it and sent me the knife. I loved that knife so much that I became a lifelong Real Steel fan. So, I try to get every Real Steel knife that I can afford to get while still keeping a variety on CCE

I can confirm that Real Steel has their 14C28N Sandvik steel at a Rockwell hardness of 59-60. Just like the vast majority of knife makers do for that steel.

I have reviewed some Bushcraft fixed blades from Real Steel but today is the POINTMAN which is a more jack-of-all-trades type of a knife. Often this type of knife falls flat but not this time. It is a good knife and it certainly can perform a wide array of tasks. It is well made and has good materials that it is made from. Here are some purchase links:

I can confirm that Real Steel brings their 14C28N stainless to a Rockwell hardness of 59-60 which is very much the industry standard.

Thanks for the mention Canadian Cutting Edge 😀
Brilliant review and the RS Pointman along with the bushcraft folder are 2 of our favourites.

Hi Jake, your detailed review on this wonderfull knife finally won me over. First I was doubting on buying on, but I have to say: no regrets! Fits great in the hand, great atention to detail, and hairpopping sharp out of the box. Also bought myself one of those blue and satin H9 Takin knives you also dit a nice review on. Thanks, and warm greetings from the Netherlands :-D

Hi Jake!
10 or so years back, I used to use this sort of blades in my line of work, Gryphons, Tops Knives that sort of things. Thats a shame I dont need one now because I would buy it otherwise. The steel is more than adequate and the features of the knife are just near-perfect for my taste. I wouldn't file the pillars myself: or I'd remove the clip entirely and use paracord, or I'd carry horizontally on the back and the gap between the back and the handle makes for an easier grab.
Nice blade, nice review, forwarded it to a guy I used to work with!

Just a bit outside. Very subtle, not too flashy. If they are make a smaller version I could carry that very unnoticed.

I'm quite sure I would like any of the Real Steel knives as they are made at the Sanrenmu factory, as is Ruike knives. In the Ruike knives I have 2 p801, 1 p108, and 2 p105-Q....Since the first Sanrenmu 710, I have found nothing out of that factory that I did not like the quality construction and fit and finish. They just make high quality for every budget.

I wish they would have stuck with the D2 they were using on the Bushcrafter2, I know its chippy on scandi grinds but it holds an awesome edge. The Sandvic14c28N is still awesome stuff but doesn't get as hair popping sharp as the D2.

Sweet knife, great steel, nice sheath. I would like it with a longer blade though for the price

I don't really see any similarities at all. Idk why they would call this the fixed blade version.

Fixed blade version of the H6?? Lol!! Blade shape, blade length, and handle shape are all different. How is that a fixed blade version of the H6?? It isn't.

I'm an avid collector. There are a bevy of quality knives manufactured right here in The USA. Why would I take a trip to Chinamart, and patronize a their Chinese products when both hate our guts, offering predominately inferior products, and utilizes child slave labor for production. What another chooses to do is clearly their business, but all casuistry aside, I choose American, or other freedom loving American supporting businesses for my pleasure.

Sadly, this is RealSteels most boring/dull design yet.😪
