Local News Stations Run Identical Amazon Segment | NowThis

In US news and current events today, e-commerce giant Amazon, owned by Jeff Bezos, has been under fire for their treatment of Amazon workers health and safety during the Coronavirus pandemic.

As COVID-19 spreads throughout Amazon warehouses, employees have fallen sick and even died. Yet, when doing a little PR damage control, Amazon sent out a script and b-roll package to local news stations, many of whom ran the segment without acknowledging it was essentially Amazon propaganda. In an era where journalists are attacked by President Donald Trump and the entire journalism and media industry is in grave danger, it's alarming that the entire journalism ethics process can be impacted by corporate PR.

Amazon : lets see, I could spend all this money to actually make sure my employees are safe and well cared for.... oooor I could just use it to pay the media to make it look like my employees are taken care of even though theyre not and never will be. eh, I could always hire new ones.

When Amazon first implemented their $15/hr base pay it was AFTER they had so many complaints about their poor working conditions that compared them to a sweatshop. The $15/hr was a PR move, just like this. Amazon is one of the worst places to work, but because everyone wants their stuff we'll turn a blind eye to their treatment of workers.

I mean they're planning on taking away our hazard pay by the end of this month even tho we've had at least 20 cases in my building in the past month. :/ but hey guess my life isn't worth it

If no one has figured it out yet, the news is just like the movies, there's a director, someone controls the narrative, the view, perspective and everything. It's been spoken about for years, don't just eat up everything they tell you just because they have suits, dramatic theme songs and a logo.

The biggest criminals wear suits, live lavish and have power beyond your imagination.

American billionaires have seen there wealth increase by almost half a trillion during the pandemic while 40 million Americans file for unemployment! Wtf!

I don't see what the big deal is. Millions of Americans staying at home are relying on Amazon to deliver essentials like groceries and cleaning products during the COVID-19 outbreak. For the first time we are getting a glimpse inside Amazon's fulfillment centers to see just how the company is keeping its employees safe and healthy while still delivering packages to your doorstep.

The amount of people that just follow orders so they can keep that paycheck coming in makes me sick.

This reminds me of the one where a bunch of media outlets parrated the same lines and state "we are a news station that will not submit to organisations that want to attack our right to free speech" or something along that lines.
Turns out it was funded by a company 🤣

One of the many reasons I don't buy from Amazon anymore

Must look in the fine print..
May be there is a clause stating that.. Amazon is not liable for any COVID 19 spread in the warehouse or to it's customers..
Maybe..
Must be investigated

When every single news network in the US is owned by 6 corporations

The FTC should investigate this. If YouTubers have to disclose sponsorships then news stations have to as well. And there's no way there isn't some form of compensation to the "local" news company from Amazon for this.

What a joke, still we shouldn't depend much on amazon, we should buy things from shops too, it will help them for feeding there families, instead of making someone world's richest

It would be so nice to have an impartial news network paid for and run by the people, happens in the UK!
