We are finally returning to the long awaited formerly know as Cryptid by Country series. Now it is Cryptid By Region and we are venturing to the Philippines. There was way more creatures here than I originally expected and this is why it took me longer than normal to upload this.

The travel parts makes me think of traveling by map in the Muppet movies XD

Hi Ben, maybe when you do an entire country with a lot of beasties you could do a two part installment like you did for Australia. With your research and presentation I can’t see people getting bored.

Very well done !! I've shared with my ( new ) family and friends here in the Philippines !! - and I know someone who has seen a Kapri, and I may have seen one myself in Michigan, in the 70's ... so, not so much a spirit.. ;)

I love the cryptids part...but I also love how you delve into the history behind each region/state that you talk about. I never looked into the Philippines' history and this was really interesting, despite probably only touching the surface. Great work, as always =)

The Sirena 12:45 to 13:16 or type of mermaid cryptid in this video is interesting,
for this fact; a popular high-quality brand of canned tuna in oil/springwater/chili etc
here in Australia, is called Sirena, complete with a mermaid image/logo on the lid & side
of cans!?. I highly recommend this particular brand of canned tuna, it's great quality & tastes delicious. But, the Sirena, obviously a name derived from Siren, mermaid link is very old lore & here to stay it seems.
The bigfoot types of cryptids are probably the most likely to actually exist,
as the orang pendek in nearby Indonesia, the famed 'wildman of Borneo' is also
geographically nearby & both Indonesia & Borneo geographically are very similar hilly mountainous dense tropical forests with canopys etc.; perfect habitat for these to survive thrive & remain hidden. Yowies are real.
I saw one last year, Tuesday 22 October 2019 at West Maryborough QLD Australia.
I've been researching yowies bigfoot bipedal cryptid hominids for years, and on a trip
from my home in Buderim QLD, North to Bundaberg QLD, it appeared to me a sub-adult
or 'teen' yowie at West Maryborough. From a believer to a knower, curiouser & curiouser... but I know what I saw & will never forget a second of brief 10-12 second sighting I had; at the time I was not seriously actively searching for yowie signs in local know hotspots but merely scanning the bushland fringes as we headed North, between West Maryborough & Howard QLD, I saw my first & so far only yowie.
No more 'some idiot in a monkey suit' skeptardism for me, nothing can convince
me I was mistaken or otherwise misidentified a know creature (I know the Australian bush like the back of my hand), or persuade me that I didn't see what I saw, it was a yowie plain & simple, which blew my head off fried every synapse of my rattled mind & every paradigm of the world I thought we all lived in, everything I once knew had to be re-learned re-evaluated & reconsidered. Life as I had known it is no more, it is vastly different now, nothing is the same anymore after copping a proper dekko at a real live yowie!?!, everything changed for me irrevocably that Tuesday arvo last year.
Peace, cheers & be nice to ya old chook!

Could you do a video about all those folklore critters loggers, miners, trappers, etc made up and spread around?

I find them a fun topic and I'm fairly sure many others do as well.

Not a Cryptid, but the Philippines does have a "lost city" story. And that this city has advanced tech and does kidnap locals as slaves. Basically your typical Atlantis/Mu survivors type story, but I thought you'd still be interested in it.

My wife is filipina and they truly believe in this stuff which is ironic considering how religious they are.

Really excellent video! The concepts of mermaids/mermen remind me of some of the Japanese versions.

If you're ever lacking for a topic, might I suggest something? You've done a video on cursed items (I'm pretty sure), but what about lucky talismans, the kind that get handed down through hundreds of years in a family or shrine? Like the fairy flag of the MacCleods, or the mirrors or swords in some Shinto shrines. Just a thought.

Kudos to you for an interesting and entertaining cryptic by "country" around the world video. Surprising that some of the cryptics of the Philippines are undead creatures. I mean, vampiric creatures with long tongues that suck the blood of their victims. Well, the real life vampire bats due have long tongues as well, as well as mosquitoes. Anyway, you should check out the video on the Bedtime Stories channel titled "The Shadow of Aswang!!! It's pretty darn good story about the Aswang creatures. It was posted last year and I highly recommend watching it.

Aswangs are their own category. The others you mentioned are not "types" of Aswang, but are separate beings. There is a very similar creature to the Manangal, a dark skinned, flying woman with bat-like wings that was allegedly sighted in Vietnam in the 1960s.

Your side note on mermaids made me crack up laughing (also a bit curious). Thanks for your hard work which gives us awesome and interesting videos. Hope you weren't too mentally scarred by mermaid procreation theories 🤣
