The problem with outback is consistency. It all depends on who the managing partner is and how they run it. When my friend ran the one up the street from me, it was fantastic. Always great food cooked to the right temperature. When she left and her friend took over as managing partner, the service went downhill as did the cooking. The new manager couldn't maintain staff after Covid hit, so now I don't go there as much.

I work at an Outback and tbh it all depends on who’s working that day. Some grill cooks cook like they’ve never seen a grill before and others cook like the steaks are $300.

Outback uses frozen steaks that is why consistency is an issue and they dont like cooking rare steaks. Because for a frozen steak you cant get a hot center with out cooking it to medium or well done.

He politely disliked that burger and just put it off to the side, this man is so sweet yet such a critic at the same time

Fun fact. The Porterhouse is not otherwise known as a T-bone. They’re from the same cut, but the difference is, on a T-bone most of the tenderloin has been removed, while on a Porterhouse the majority of the tenderloin is still intact. The tenderloin itself is know as the Filet Mignon.

Server at Ruth’s Chris here. The reason other steakhouses are more expensive is because of the grade of the meat being served. In order of increasing marbling (meaning intra muscular fat content AKA flavor), you have Select, Choice, and Prime. Places like Outback uses Select, making it cheaper than higher end places that only serve Prime grade. The difference is very noticeable when you compare them side to side. Also, higher end places use special broilers at very high temperatures to create a beautiful crust to make it even better. Hope this helps someone! 👍

Outback is 100% a steal of a deal if you hit the right location but thats the thing...if its the wrong location you overspent hardcore. Used to love their steak sandwiches havent really gone since but imagine its about the same as it is a chain

As an Australian, there is no such thing as a "Melbourne Porterhouse" 🤣🤣 They don't even offer LL&B's there.

People hate on outback but it's one of the best chains when you're at a well ran example. I worked at one of the busiest in the country and it was always fantastic.

That's no porterhouse, that's a t-bone. Porterhouse has the whole filet

just seeing the bloomin onion thing just reminded me of when someone asked me if it was a common dish in Australia, and I never knew it existed until they asked me about it.

Outback lost my business when they told me I couldn’t have a steak without their seasoning on it!
