Bees will travel miles to find food, so it’s likely they aren’t just getting it within your yard…. Many people plant interesting things that may not be local to you either & could be feeding them…. Some might even have hummingbird feeders out still (some will do this on purpose to feed bees too)…. So many options that could be around you that could be feeding your bees 😊 which is great!!!

THAT HONEY IS SO DARK!! You have some very happy and healthy bees. The darker the honey, the richer and sweeter it is.

A note for people who question the ethics of beekeeping (I also posted this as a reply to someone else's comment):

Keeping honeybees is a partnership! The bees are at liberty to leave whenever they please, but because beekeepers provide for the bees' needs, the colony *chooses* to stay. Eventually, bees will leave natural hives if they become too small or too full; it is possible to have too much honey and not enough brood space.

Responsible beekeepers will never harvest more honey than their hives need for overwintering. And if nutritional stress *does* occur, the beekeepers can give their bees sugar water, sugar cake, and "bee bread" (pressed pollen) for protein. Beekeepers certainly make terrible thieves if they're looking after the health and welfare of their hives, to the extent that they would give of their own resources to prevent malnutrition...

Bees are intelligent. They'll let you know if they don't want you around. You'll begin to notice that honeybees recognize the appearance and scent of their keepers; they don't even send out guard bees when the beekeeper approaches. But they will absolutely send guard bees to check out guests and newcomers, *just in case* they need to defend the hive.

I've never met a beekeeper who doesn't love their bees. 🥰🐝

I bet witch-hazel honey would be delicious!
I always feel so silly when I wear my whole bee suit, my bees are so chill, I've hardly even been stung. Although, I do always wear a Vail, after being stung in the face one time

So thoughtful of you guys to have left some honey for the bees to hold them for the winter months...much respect🙏 🙌👍

Bees will also bite leaves and extract any sugar they can from them. I belive that's why your honey is darker.

They might have also stolen honey from another hive. Or maybe someone has hummingbird feeders. Like others have said, bees can travel MILES.

Crazy that a single hive is able to do that. How many candles can yall make from it?

Bees can travel far beyond their territory cause they don't just harvest one time of pollinators, bees got taste too

What do you do with any wax? Or is this one of those hives you don’t actually remove the cap wax from?
