Nice list, I recognize that a lot depends on personal aspect but living in Hannover I have to disagree with number 1. The pace here is always so rushed! I am so chill and laid back, I have had to push myself to make the change and pick up my pace. There is even a Hannover walking pace LOL ..its fast.
But, I won't lose my edge, I can be seen casually riding my bike with everyone passing me daily LOL
Your number 6...yep

6:57: "You like to wear shoes on your hands?"
*sweats in german*
Handschuhe (gloves), literally translates to "hand shoes" :D

Hello christopher, I'm a year late again, but what the heck, I'll give up my sermon after all. As I wrote on another video, my husband is African-American, I am a mix-up woman consisting of African, India, Arabia and white. We live in Germany, our three boys go to a German school and our neighborhood is 85% German and a few others, such as a Turkish-German family and a few other nationalities, including people from India. What we like so much about the Germans, they are cautious when you meet / meet for the first time, but they are friendly. When they then realize that you don't want anything from them, that you just want to be a good neighbor, then they open their hearts and stand by your side. We have a wonderful neighborhood, we help each other, we laugh and cry with each other, we celebrate with each other and we mourn with each other...
...we are here for each other !
I remember it differently from the USA, where you had to prove yourself again and again in order to be able to stay in the community, even in the family.
When I think about the outrageous circus we had to fight out with my mother-in-law and within the family, then Germany is paradise on earth. Nobody asks whether you are black or white, your religion doesn't matter, whether you have money or not,
it doesn't matter.
If you have Germans as friends, you have real friends in joy and in sorrow - they are on/by your side...!

As a German I really appreciate videos like that, because once in a while one needs an outside perspective of ones country. That's how we see what we as Germans can improve. I know from people of colour living in Germany who paint a very diverse picture. Some face hate and some feel Germany is very open minded. So thank you for your view. It shows, we as Germans aren't there yet, but we can be proud of how far we've come as a society.

I, as a German, like the multiculturalism, too. Glad you like I here, I think we can be glad to get people like you to live here.

Point 9&10 are kind of a combination of the german mindset of "don't bother me and I won't bother you".
Which has a dual-effect: if someone comes from a background where that person is used to get bothered for superficial reasons like skin colour, they might be pleasently surprised that noone gives a damn. On the other hand if someone comes from a cultural background where they were used to be part of the dominant group and expect according treatment, they might consider us rude.
We don't want to be rude, and bothering others is considered rude, if someone is blocking a path in a supermarket a german will rather silently squeeze or push past than talk to someone; the other person is then supposed to realise by itself that it was blocking the path... unless... it's soccer fans... they're loud, they're drunk, they're engaging everyone... they're so annoying.

Number 10 is my favorite. Germans themselve like to be ignored, and we like to ignore the others.

Hi, I am German and I'd like to tell you a very great story. When I was a boy (about 7 or 8) we had a "Fest" in our small village. Nearly everybody was there to celebrate. And we hab a family in here which came from Senegal? I don't know. They had two daughters and when the "Fest" began, this family arrives in their traditional clothing. With spear, feather hat and so on (this happened in the late 1970. 1978 maybe). I was so impressed. And in that moment, they entered the hall everybody looked at them, stood up and applause them. It was so great. Remember: These were the late 1970's in a very small hessian village.

I would have never thought that people with dark skin would feel more 'ignored' in Germany than in the US. Being black is much more common in the US, so I would think that they would get extra attention in Germany as it's rather rare to see dark-skinned people around - basically the same way that someone with blonde hair would get extra attention in an asian country where almost everyone has black hair. Really suprising to me but great if it makes you feel at home here ^^

In my small town of 40000 I can reach everything by foot: School, Shopping, Restaurants, Workplace, Recreation (we have a great public swimming bath, a wonderful lake with lots of nature, a deep dark forest where we can watch deers, boars and occassionally wolves) and we have two main train stations and four highway-exists.

With bikes, we were able to travel from Nürnberg(germany), through Vienna in austria, to Bratislava in Tschecho-Slovakia and back within a week. It was a crazy experience, how much every kilometer we traveled changed our surroundings! I personaly recommend this bike-tour to everyone, i loved it!

That was really quite different list, as others. He not even mentioned health care, good food, beer, different seasons, calm times on Sundays and so on.

There are parts of Germany where the color of the skin is important because a lot of hobby nazis gathered there but that applys to pretty much every country.

You forgot my number one reason for planning to go back to Germany. The Public Health Care System and also the amazing Infrastructure. Love your 'I like being ignored'. Great video.

I was honestly confused when you said "You see me? You see this?" thinking... "What am I supposed to see there."
