The new dual-clutch transmissions 6DCT150 and 6DCT200 feature the same kind of Smart Actuation and
wet dual-clutches. These particularly compact transmissions are mainly designed for modern small cars,
which are becoming increasingly important in cities and mega-cities worldwide. With regard to the limited
installation space in these vehicles, Getrag engineers have designed a six-speed transmission that is as
compact as a five-speed transmission. The first “virtual” gear is formed by means of a bridge, involving
another gear pair on the second sub-transmission. One major benefit of this bridge solution is that the
physically largest gear wheel for the first gear is not required. This saves space and makes the transmission
considerably smaller and lighter.
Efficient automation in every size
An additional strength of the third-generation dual-clutch transmissions is a high degree of standardised
design principles. This applies, for example, to the pump actuators that can be placed practically anywhere
in the transmission, and to components such as the clutches that can be used throughout the model range.
