I loved Battle for Middle Earth 2 on the 360!

I'm now a complete RTS junkie, but nothing will ever top Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. That game is legendary.

I really enjoyed Command and Conquer and Command and Conquer Retaliation on PS1 back in the day :)

What Battalion Wars on the Gamecube and Wii?

Dune 2, the grandaddy of real time strategy games, was actually quite playable on Sega Genesis. Probably because the game was relatively simple and didn't have layers of micromanagement and menus to wade through.

Bruh, you missed supreme command 2. That game was so great and fun. I wish there were more games like for console nowadays (my opinion).

everyone seems to forget that Civ 2 was on the PS1 back in the day (and that was what introduced me to Civ), so no Civ 6 isn't the first big boy civ on consoles.

I always really liked Operation Darkness. It was a turn based WW2 strategy game involving Nazi Vampires, and a team of Allied Werewolves. You could shift to your wolf form and attack tanks for bonus damage. There was also a great leveling system that made it so even the minor generic soldiers could become great asset's.

I loved Populous and Centurion on the master system (or mega drive) back in the day. Years ahead of their time. Also Kessen and Kessen 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert… All excellent console strategy games

My personal favorites were Ogre Battle for SNES, Ogre Battle 64 for N64, Master of Monsters for Genesis, Dark Wizard for Sega CD, Iron Storm for Saturn, Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics for Playstation, and every Disgaea release ever. Any one of those are more than worthy to make the list.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms has been on console a few times, the PS2 one was particularly good.

This list should IMO be renamed top Console strategy games of the 2000s. There were no 90s games at all. Hell were any pre-PS3 and pre-Xbox 360 games other then Pikmen?

And Fire Emblem: Three Houses wasn't the first FIre Emblem home console game to come west. And I seriously hope you want to keep handheld games and home console games on separate lists because that's the only good reason I can see for leaving Advance Wars off.

I'm a little surprised Starcraft on the N64 missed the cut. Or maybe not so surprised. Also Advance Wars. (For which the Switch remaster has had its release delayed, quite understandably.)
It's worth mentioning that the original PS1 did actually have its own mouse released, which was usable for a bunch of different strategy and RTS games.
