Back when this movie was made, Pixar was one of the most innovative and creative studios in the world. They were pushing art and technology at the same time; their originality was unrivaled, and their expertise was cutting edge. If only it could have lasted.

fun fact: lotso (the bear villain from toy story 3) was meant to be the villain in the first toy story, but the animators still didnt have the technology to make a realistic fur.
monsters inc was the first real step in that sense, hence lotso could finally be used after that.

My favorite Pixar movie. I have always been fascinated by animation, and I had this movie as a kid. I swear that I watched the special feature behind the scenes dvd more than the actual movie. 😂🤣

It's so cool to see how the earlier Pixar films tackled challenges like hair, water, clothes- and went on to solve even more daunting tasks, such as having a character who is a light source in Inside Out, or figuring out the volumetric characters in Soul. Love how Pixar's technology serves its storytelling

I really loved these features on Disc 2 of the original 2-disc set. I've still got it, and I'll keep it till the day I die. You get to see every step in the creative process, from paintings illustrating the original story treatment to storyboards of like the third or fourth draft of the screenplay, to beautiful conceptual artwork of Monstropolis, a look at the Pixar Studios workplace, footage of the voiceover work, everything. It's interesting how embroiled everyone at Pixar got with this project, and it's like they knew it was going to be a hit _because_ of all the work they put into it.

This is actually a great education video for kids and adults to learn how the movie was made.

1:32 I remember this exact part of the feature scared the daylight out of me as a kid. I actually screamed and begged my parents to shut it off. Just the way that Test Sully moved was so creepy

It's a masterpiece for its time. I have a huge soft spot of for animation and stop motion films. Monsters incorporated is one of the top animation movies of all time. I really appreciate Pixar studios and the whole voice cast for this film, I adore this movie and always will. The most beautiful thing about all Pixar films is the hidden message behind each one of them and I think this movie has the best one

It's amazing how this movie is over 20 years old but still holds up and looks great to this day.

I appreciate these people. Thank you so much for taking hours and years to anime these movies. I wouldn't have the patience to do this. When I saw the fur animations I couldn't imagine how much stress was put into that.

I would like to have an actual sequel to Monsters Inc not just a prequel. The 2001 animation on that movie holds up much better than Monsters University

There’s something so original, creative, and brilliant about this movie. It holds up even today. I loved it as a kid and now my toddler absolutely loves it

Everytime I watch one of these featurette's from a Pixar Film. I always feel like I'm listening to Scientist who know what they're talking about in a sublte documentary. And I love it <3

this early version of Sulley kinda looks like Johnny from Monsters University, just a few traits here and there similar to that model

1:45 This Sully looks very creepy. Looks ginormous compared to Final Sully.
