We also used trail detectors that would radio that someone was using that part of the trail. They used the sniffer. They were placed by a navy electronics tech usually a new one. He was guarded by a squad of Marines. The squid had KBC on his back and he only had a 45. KBC meant kill before capture. Fun times.

I had a teacher who used these in Vietnam, he said one additional problem was the device couldn't tell the different from animal urine and human urine. And in the jungle everything is pretty much covered in urine from all the animals.

I work in cellular communications I get so tickled when people come in and tell me that they think someone's listening to them on their phone or that the government is after them sweetheart if you had any idea the amount of technology they have to hunt someone down if they wanted you you wouldn't even know because they would already have you and dispose of you.
