I’m an American. I’ve spent 7 years between Iraq and Afghanistan. As a soldier and as a security contractor. Yes we have an amazingly powerful military. But brother, let me tell you, I’ve spent some time with the South Korean ROK Army and let me say this. You guys are badass! I’ve seen the way you train. I’ve seen the way you conduct yourselves on the battle field. You are a strong, fit, smart, and brave force. Very well disciplined. Much more than other countries I’ve also worked with which I will not name. Yes hypothetically America would win. Means nothing to me. We are allies and if I was pinned down and the ROK Army showed up to help me out, I’d feel pretty damn good in that moment. Be proud of your country. You have my respect Sir.

The scariest thing about the US military is its logistics. The sheer enormity of supply needed to run a carrier group is staggering, and there aren't just one.
As we've seen recently, it doesn't matter how good your equipment is if you can't keep it supplied, and that's where the US is unparalleled.

Never be ashamed of your forces. Believe it or not you have one of the strongest armies in the world. Why, you believe in your government, you know what you have and can loose, you have discipline, you have pride, you have training, You know what you want to protect. I'd much rather be protected by S. Korean troops than Russian troops. As you can see in the Ukraine, the skill level difference is night and day. Be very proud.

"If Korea had that, I wouldn't be scared to go to war." Korea DOES have that. South Korea is an important and cherished ally of the US. If the North were to attack, or anyone else, the US military would immediately deploy to support South Korea.

No need to be ashamed. I was in Pohang in the late 80s for one of the Team Spirit exercises. Just across a fence line was a training facility for the ROK Marines. We used to hear them get smoked by their drill instructors all hours of the day and night. Occasionally they would come over and we would trade uniform items and other stuff. They were tough as nails and we always had a ton of respect for them. And we were US Marines. Nothing but respect!

I've had the pleasure of working with ROK military once and they were great. A mix of both active duty and conscripted personnel. They were all very nice and eager to work together.

My roommate in college was ex Korean military. Very cool dude . Definitely would not mess with him while he was drinking . Similar to marines, they are taught to kill in hand to hand combat quickly and brutally .

I know he is being humble. But their fighting techniques are so damn pure and just technical when it comes to hand to hand combat. It’s really insane how good their troops are when it comes to it

Both South Korea and Japan are U.S greatest ally’s in Asia hands down, so I definitely think that these 2 countries in the near future will be supplied with all this technology

Korean Marines are built different. Had some time spent in ROK and they are so friendly, but as soon as shit is real they are the most professional and most badass.
